One of our favorite things: Sauna.

Finland is known for its natural beauty and incredible landscapes. In summer you can walk through the most beautiful forests and the fresh air is unique. But in winter it can

get quite cold. Here in Turku, in the south of the country it is still relatively warm, but if you go further north, for example to Lapland, it quickly gets very cold.

And because humans are such inventive creatures, they created one of the best things: the sauna. :) One of the first things you notice here in Finland is that there are numerous saunas. Whether public or private. Of course, the saunas by the lake are especially beautifully situated. In the middle of the forest, directly at the lake, you will find these dreamlike oases of peace.

Our first experience was the sauna "Villa Järvelä Oy". AMAZING. Truly highly recommendable.

With the bus, it takes a little out of the city and from there, you have to walk for about half an hour. But alone this walk to the sauna is beautiful. Through the forest it goes deeper and deeper into the woods towards the lake. There are then two different saunas. And to be honest, we don't know exactly what the difference is. :) So it's best to just try both. Additionally there are two whirlpools where you can relax after the ice-cold refreshment in the lake. An incredible experience, really. You are surrounded by nature everywhere and the view of the lake is breathtaking. On top of that, the whole thing is relatively student-friendly, as it only costs 7 euros. And don't worry, you can also pay by card and don't have to bring cash. We think that this is an absolutely reasonable price for such a nice and relaxed atmosphere. And a plus: You can stay as long as you want.
